It's been awhile...

and today is my first day of relaxation since I have been here!  It has been a crazy week and a half and it makes it seem like I have been here for months already... so here is a update my friends and fam!

work:  my job is awesome and i love it so far.  my building is a little shack of a building next to the slope like i had mentioned before.  Kate (my boss) wants the resort to remodel the inside because it needs some work.  Emma, Devin, and I call it the frat house office.  the wooden floors are worn in, the windows are old, the couches were donated, things are falling a part, and there is always a 30 rack of beer in the fridge... but i love everything about it.  apparently the building was the first ski shop at Sunday River back in the day and it was called Frosty's or something like that.  I love my boss, Kate.  We get along really well already and she is open to new ideas that I have to share with her, which is really nice.  Last week she took me on a non-related work field trip to play with a bunch of puppies... AWESOME... and they were black and yellow labies... my life was complete. i miss my pups.. we have cats here.. they are cool tho... anyways.. this past weekend was my first event! and Kate was gone on the first day! the event was called Demo Days and guests could register for $10 each day to Demo brand skis from 12 different vendors on the mountain and then if they wanted to buy a pair, they got $50 off their purchase.  It was a pretty sweet deal!  the first day we had 179 people demo and sunday we had about 85.  It was a great turn out this year and everyone was happy. Today is my day off and i have thursday off as well because Emma and I are going on a little adventure! but our first big race is next weekend and it is a FIS Open... apparently they are a big deal, I have no idea about anything on competition skiing but I guess I will find out soon, won't I?

life in general:  outside of work, we have been pretty busy.  I love living with Emma and Devin... I honestly dont think I would of made this move if I had to live by myself.  yikes.  we all get a long really well and things are just easy for all of us.  Emma and I have been on a couple fun adventures together.  I'm learning and seeing a lot of Bethel and the surrounding areas.  It's beautiful and there is a lot of space... meaning everything around here is pretty spread out.. reminds me of home.  The STARS at night are probably the most amazing things I have ever seen in my life.  and if you know anything about me... you would know I LOVE STARS.  However, it is too cold at night to sit outside to look at them but you can see them from inside which is still pretty amazing.  the sky is so dark and clear, you could almost reach up and touch the stars.  I have never seen such a beautiful site.
There is this place called Suds Pub and it is walking distance from our house and we have been there twice now.  It is pretty cool!  It is down in a basement of the main restaurant and it is definitely the typical ski pub.  on tuesday nights they have $5 pizza night which is bomb cause then you have left overs for lunch the next day.  Other places we have gone: The Matterhorn, The Roadhouse Rooster, and The Foggy Google (which is at the resort).  All have been great experiences. and apparently the normal drink size here for mixed drinks is a pint.. goodnightttttt.... We have football Sundays after work at our apartment where we play games and watch the game and just hang out after a long weekend of work... it is a great way to relax with a beer or apple cider and rum <--- SO YUMMY!

For Thanksgiving, I went to Emma's parents house and had a wonderful time. It was different from my family's Thanksgiving tradition but it was a really great time and I felt part of their family, which I am very thankful for.  I watched the parade for the first time in a long time. We baked a pie, a turkey, this stuffing deliciousness that had the stuffing and potatoes mixed together, carrots, a kale salad, we had 3 kinds of cranberry sauce, homemade bread, and other things that I am sure I forgot.  But it was delicious and I was a happily full camper. Definitely got a food coma.

Anyways, that is all I can really think about all that has happened in the past week or so.  It has been quiet the adventure already. It snowed last night and it looks beautiful outside today.  I took a walk to the post office and it was perfect, not too cold!  Hopefully I will learn to ski this week or next and build myself a snowman!! so exciting, I know. anyways, shout out to Matt on passing the Bar Exam and being born (it is his birthday today...Happy Birthday).  I miss everyone and cannot wait to come home in a couple of weeks for Christmas celebrations!  Talk to all you lovelies soon!

Love love love from the cold tundra of Maine!
