Hi everyone!!
Since I'm writing this you must know that I have survived my first 24 hours in Maine!! When I got here I thought it was ridiculously cold but luckily Emma is an amazing friend and brought me a scarf and mittens in the car (obviously because all my stuff was packed). Her parents and boyfriend were also there to greet me and then we went and had dinner... which was amazing because I was so hangry from not eating all day. Well that's a lie.... I had coffee, yogurt, and airplane pretzels, super exciting. Anyways... it was about an 1 1/2 drive from Portland to Bethel. Obviously it was dark outside but I could tell it still look beautiful out! The sky is as clear as at home and I can see every star in the sky!! Lots of trees and water, not a lot of buildings. It literally feels like VC but way colder haha.
Our apartment is adorable. It is on the second floor of an old white farmhouse. You go in through this sunroom and up a flight of stairs to get in. At the top of the stairs in our bathroom and to the right is a huge kitchen... you could probably do cartwheels in it, but I don't know how to so I haven't tried. To the left of the stairs is our dining room. And then you go up two little stairs to our living room and the bedrooms. It has four bedrooms but technically two are being used as actual bedrooms, one as Emma and my closet (we have a ton of clothes now!!) and the other is a spare room. Our living room is awesome. We have a couch, tv, little table and chairs next to a three panel window, and some other fun chairs and decorations. So it is cozy. My room still needs a little work but today Emma and I ventured out to find stuff for my room and it is coming a long nicely.
Today I met my new boss, Kate. She is awesome and really nice; I think we are going to get along nicely together. Our office is this tiny gray building at the biggest slope sight on the mountain and across from the cafeteria and a bar (drinks while working? haha just kidding). My little room/office is right when you walk into the building, so I will be the first person people will see when they come into the building. I have a window that looks out to the mountain and slopes and I can see skiers coming down the mountain, so that's pretty cool! My name plaque was already on the door, which was awesome and they got me a new desk. The building is three levels and has a heater which will be awesome once it gets colder and because I sit by the front door (yikes...wind, snow, coldness). Kate said we get our new uniforms tomorrow which Emma said are really nice, normally like Patagonia, L.L. Bean, or North Face stuff. We get free lift passes for the season which is a huge plus because I guess they are like $1,000 for a season pass!!! INSANE! And then we get discounts on food and attire at stores on the mountain (...plus lodging and other things if any of you want to come visit!). So all in all it was a good first visit to the resort and to my office. Plus I got a free turkey! Apparently, they give out turkeys to their employees for Thanksgiving... so now we have 3 giant frozen turks at our house. Pretty random but so awesome! Tomorrow is my first day at work and I'll be meeting a lot of people, so I am excited about that!!
Anyways, I know this is a long blog post but there is a lot to say about my first day here! A lot has happened in such little time it feels like. It still seems surreal that I am here and that I'm actually doing this, but I think it will hit me soon that I'm not going to be home for a couple weeks and then a couple months after Christmas. I already miss home, the fam, my dogs, my friends, my bed, the warm weather (even tho it rained in SD today) and my old routine but this is a learning experience and going to be a good one with lots of adventures!! I should probably get some sleep so I can be well rested for my first day of work tomorrow, butttt I think I'm going to finish watching Sons of Anarchy before that... so I gotta go!! Missing everyone and hoping life is going swell! Comment on this any time or send me a text, message on facebook, or call me! I would love to hear from everyone and anyone!
hugs and kisses

Hello all my lovely friends and family,
I understand that a blog may be a little ridiculous because I am literally only going across the country and not to another country in general, however I feel that this would be the best way of keep all you peeps updated with my life in Maine! I am less than 2 days away from leaving beautiful California to go on my adventure in crazy cold Maine (which is suppose to be beautiful as well). I have mixed feelings right now about going. I will miss you all terribly, but I am so so so excited and grateful that I will/able to embark on this great adventure. I will probably freeze and turn into a snowwomen, and if not that, I will come back a florescent white color (aka albino) and will have all spring and summer to get back at least a little color on my skin. But that is the least of my worries... How do you shovel snow properly? Is there a special way? Let me know if you have any pointers... really anything about snow and cold weather would be helpful. Maybe a survival kit... I may not go to work and hibernate the whole time like a bear.... JK I start work on Friday!!!
Anyways... follow my crazy life on here... if I stop writing it's because I froze to death... so make sure you call Emma and make sure I'm alive. I will miss you all but am looking forward to telling you all about my adventures through this and in person!!! Love you all.
xoxo
